CALL FOR APPLICATION: MAHARAJA AGRASEN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES DEPARTMENT OF LAW

 The competition is a 5-day annual law fest to be organized by the Department of Law, MAIMS, and is scheduled to be held from 17th to 21st March 2021. The fest shall comprise of various academic competitions and events, which will witness the participation of students from all law schools. It seeks to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences between students. The events would serve as academic stimulations and harness skills like self-awareness, critical thinking, organizational skills, and team work, making them better professionals. 

MAIMS 1st Justice J.S. Verma Memorial ADR & Client Counselling Competition seeks to encourage the effective use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and to promote an open exchange of ideas, experience and technical know-how between students and legal professionals. The competition aims to combine the use of the ADR and collaborative problem-solving skills of law students so as to successfully represent the litigating interests of parties and thus, proceed towards conflict resolution. We believe that this competition will encourage students and legal practitioners to adopt better and faster means of dispute resolution. The competition comprises of 5 events, namely, Mediation, Arbitration, Negotiation, Client Counselling and National Asian Parliamentary Debate.

I. ABOUT With Mediation gaining momentum as an effective and efficient means of conflict resolution, the Department of Law is organising a mediation competition that allows students to flex their advocacy muscles required in a mediation proceeding. This competition aims at augmenting the requisite soft skills of a trained mediator and thus, prepare students to successfully conduct and participate in a mediation process.

II. REGISTRATION FEE The Registration Fee for this event is Rs. 1,500/- per team. 

III. TRAINING SESSION FOR PARTICIPANTS A workshop to be held prior to the competition by Ms. Jennifer L. Brandt, experienced Attorney, Arbitrator and Mediator for all the registered participants. She has served as a Judge and Mediator at ABA and ICC Commercial Mediation Competitions. She has participated in international dispute resolution efforts around the globe. The workshop will discuss on basics of Mediation, it's relevance, and future career in it. Details of same will be emailed to registered participants.

Application Procedure- The interested students before filling out the participation form MUST apply at soladr@ddn.upes.ac.in and cc to  aprajita.singh@ddn.upes.ac.in latest by February 18th, 2021 before 12:00PM. In case of any query, contact team ADR but kindly do not upload wrong information; for the application shall be rejected outright, if any discrepancy is found.
