About the Organization

Society for Young Advocates and Researchers (SYAR India) intends to connect young lawyers, law students and researchers on a platform wherein they guide young talents to excel in the field of law. SYAR is helping to educate law students and young lawyers to learn in the most effective manner by improving their skills. SYAR India is dedicated to expand and connect legal fraternity for a common cause through the most enlightening experience and boost their career like never before.


About the Competition

Society for Young Advocates and Researchers has been trying to push the limits to educate the upcoming generation of legal professionals to comprehend the value of the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism in this fast-paced era. SYAR presents with an opportunity for the law students to hone their skills in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution and build requisite skills required to be a good mediator or a negotiator. The 5th National Negotiation Competition is to be held virtually on October 14th-16th, 2022. 


Eligibility

  • The Competition is open to all students, enrolled bonafide on a regular basis in an Undergraduate LL.B. Degree Course or its equivalent conducted by any recognized institute.
  • A recognized institution shall be entitled to send only three teams to the competition.


Registration Fees
  • The registration fee for the competition is INR 3,000. This fee is non-refundable and has to be paid by all teams.

Awards and Prizes
  • The winner of the Final Round will be declared the “Winning Team”, which will include the cash prize of INR 10,000 and an internship opportunity with the PSL Advocates & Solicitors 
  • The losing finalists will be declared the “Runners-Up”, which will include the cash prize of INR 7,000. The Team with highest score in Preliminary Round will be adjudged as the “Best Negotiating Team”, which will include a cash prize of INR 3,000.
  • E-Certificate of Merit shall be given to the Winners, Runners-up, Best Negotiating Team and all the teams qualifying to Advance Rounds. 
  • E-certificate of participation shall be provided to all the participants.

Team Composition
  • In a Negotiation Session, each Participating Team will be represented by no more than two Eligible Students with one taking the role of "Counsel" and the other taking the role of "Client". 
  • Certificates for participating team members will be prepared from the team lists submitted. The certificates of participation will show the names of the team members exactly as they have been submitted. It is therefore incumbent on teams to ensure that names are spelled and presented correctly.

Application Procedure:

The interested students before filling out the participation form MUST apply at soladr@ddn.upes.ac.in and cc to  ggoswami@ddn.upes.ac.in with all necessary details (including Internal Ranks, details of team members) latest by 11th September 2022 before 11:59 PM. In case of any query, contact team ADR but kindly do not upload wrong information; for the application shall be rejected outright, if any discrepancy is found.
