ILS Centre for Arbitration (ILSCA) in association with ADR ODR International and KDLEX CHAMBERS presents Fifth Edition of INTERCESSIONIS 2022, a National Mediation Competition from 19th March- 20th March, 2022

About ILSCA 

ILS Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (ILSCA) was established on 3rd December 2016 by the Governing Council of the Indian Law Society with the primary aim of providing facilities for ad- hoc and also institutional arbitration and mediation, both in domestic as well as International spheres. Ms. Sathya Narayan is the distinguished Director of ILSCA, as well as the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) at Pune, steering the dynamic activities undertaken by the organization. ILSCA is a neutral, independent, and nonpolitical and non-profit organization, which is established to facilitate the impartial administration of ADR proceedings and help to promote a cordial and rational settlement of disputes between parties through various methods of dispute resolution.

About INTERCESSIONIS

Every year ILSCA organizes a National Mediation Competition. Undoubtedly, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) has become one of the most reliable and needed means of initiating a speedy, cost- effective means of resolving a matter. Owing to this, it is imperative that law students learn the art and skill of mediation and negotiation. And ILSCA’s Intercessionis, is a perfect platform for all the aspiring law students to learn the same. A total of 18 teams participate in this competition representing the eminent law colleges all over India. The competition is organized over a course of two days, in the space of 4 competitive Rounds, with the first day witnessing the Preliminary Rounds and the Quarter Final Round. Thereafter, on the final day, the teams which qualify further compete in the Semi Final Round and Final Round. The goal is to develop and inculcate in students practical lawyering skills, communication skills, sensitize their commercial aptitude and encourage collaborative thinking. This is a one of a kind competition facilitating the participant teams of students representing various renowned law colleges in the country to showcase their skills and put theory into practice.

Registration Process: 

Each participating university/college/institute team shall consist of two students as negotiators and one student as the mediator. Coaches and observers can accompany the team. The registration form requires teams to specify the roles of each individual member. The roles which have been pre-assigned by the team will be carried forward throughout the competition. A mediator will not be permitted to substitute any member of the negotiation team and vice-versa. Change of roles after the registration will not be entertained. The host team (from ILS Law College, Pune) will compete at INTERCESSIONIS 2022, thus making it 18 teams in total. 

Upon acceptance of the team by the organizing committee, the team must pay the full registration fees of Rs. 6500 EXCLUSIVE OF GST (18%) per team within the time limit as indicated by the organizing committee. The registration fee is inclusive of participation in the Competition as well as a Certificate Mediation Workshop organized by ADR ODR International and KD Lex Chambers a day before the competition, i.e., 18th March, 2022. There will be no refund of the registration fee in any circumstances unless the competition is called off by the organizing committee for reasons that will be provided during such an event.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERION 

The competition is open to full-time law students (5-year or 3-year course) registered in any university in India for the academic year 2021-2022. Only students studying law may participate in the competition. LLM students are not eligible to participate in the competition. 
Please Note: 
  1. That the shortlisting of teams shall be done based on prior experience of the team in ADR activities.
  2.  Only ONE team shall represent an institute/college in the competition.

Application Procedure- The interested students before filling out the participation form MUST apply at soladr@ddn.upes.ac.in and cc to  spathak@ddn.upes.ac.in  latest by 15th February 2022 before 11:59 PM. In case of any query, contact team ADR but kindly do not upload wrong information; for the application shall be rejected outright, if any discrepancy is found.
