We are pleased to announce that ICFAI Law School, The ICFAI University, Dehradun, is organising a Panel Discussion on "Promoting the effectiveness of the Culture of Commercial Arbitration" scheduled for 10th August 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, IST in virtual mode. 

The ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand (hereinafter referred to as the University) was established under The ICFAI University Act 2003 (Act No.16 of 2003) passed by the Uttaranchal Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on July 08, 2003. The ICFAI Law School (formerly known as the Faculty of Law), a constituent of the ICFAI University, Dehradun, is established to develop a new generation of legal professionals through the comprehensive and contemporary body of knowledge integrating law with Management/Humanities.

The discussion aims to increase awareness and understanding by educating the attendees about the principles, procedures, and advantages of commercial arbitration, clarifying misconceptions, and distinguishing arbitration from other dispute resolution methods and will offer a valuable learning experience, underscoring the importance of arbitration in today’s legal and commercial landscape.


RESPECTED PANELISTS:

1)    Justice (Retd.) Hemant Gupta

Justice (Retd.) Hemant Gupta, a former Supreme Court Justice, now leads the India International Arbitration Centre (IIAC) as its Chairperson. He has been celebrated throughout his illustrious career for his deep legal insight, and unwavering integrity, and delivered numerous landmark judgments that have significantly impacted India’s legal landscape.

2)    Ms. Reshma Oogorah (FCI Arb)

Reshma Oogorah, the dynamic force behind Niyom Legal, brings a wealth of global expertise in arbitration and legal practice. She collaborates with high-profile businesses across construction, technology, and international trade & investment. Currently, she is on secondment with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

3)    Mr. Sahil Narang (Partner at Khaitan & Co (KCO)

Sahil Narang, a Partner at Khaitan & Co (KCO) and an Advocate on Record (AOR) of the Supreme Court, brings over 14 years of experience in both domestic and international commercial litigation and arbitration.

4)    Ms. Uliana Cooke (Partner at Gunnercooke LLP)

Based in the vibrant city of London, England, Ms. Uliana Cooke is a distinguished Partner at Gunnercooke LLP, renowned for her expertise in resolving disputes and navigating the complex world of international arbitration.

5)    Ms. Shruti Khanijow (Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co)

Shruti Khanijow is a distinguished international arbitration and commercial disputes lawyer in India. With over a decade of experience, she has adeptly represented private parties and State entities in significant arbitrations under ICC, UNCITRAL, LCIA, and SIAC rules, across a variety of jurisdictions, including India, London, Singapore, the MENA region, Paris, and Geneva.

6)    Mr. Param Bhamra (Founder at MediateGuru, Advocate, MCIArb)

Mr. Param Bhamra, the Founding Partner at MediateGuru, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the world of international arbitration. Passionate about alternative dispute resolution (ADR), He actively shares his knowledge with aspiring law students, helping to elevate legal skills and understanding.
