NLUJ International Deal Negotiation Competition 2025

FORMAT:
National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) is thrilled to announce the NLUJ International Deal Negotiation Competition 2025, scheduled to take place from February 28 – March 2, 2025, at our campus in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. This prestigious competition, organized by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of NLUJ in collaboration with A&O Shearman, provides participants with a unique opportunity to engage in real-world deal negotiations.

The competition is designed to enhance negotiation skills in a non-contentious setting, allowing students to develop essential competencies for corporate legal practice. Participants will have the chance to balance the commercial interests of clients while considering the needs of business counterparts.

Each team shall consist of 2 participants, representing the Client and the Counsel, with 2 teams set to negotiate with each other representing opposing parties in the Preliminary Rounds. The General Information shall be given to the participants to assess the positions and interests of both parties and to determine the business needs of both sides. The Confidential Information shall be provided 1 hour prior to the negotiation session, informing the teams about the side they would be representing. The top 8 teams from the Preliminary Round shall advance to the Quarter Final Rounds, after which teams would advance on a single elimination/knockout basis.

TEAM COMPOSITION:

Each team shall consist of 2 participants, one representing the Client and the other as the Counsel.

ELIGIBILITY:
The competition is open to students enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate law degree at an accredited university.

REGISTRATION FEE:

  • National Teams: ₹12,000 per team
  • International Teams: USD 150 per team

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • Provisional Registration Deadline: 2nd February 2025, 11:59 PM IST
  • Training Sessions & Competition Preparation: Early-November 2024 – Late-January 2025
  • Competition Dates: 28th February – 2nd March 2025

This year, participants will benefit from training sessions led by professionals from A&O Shearman, designed to refine their negotiation techniques in international commercial law. Workshops hosted by our supporting partners will further provide insights into transactional legal practice.

Interested Students before filling out Participation form Must apply by filling ADR APPLICATION FORM latest by 31st Jan 2025 by 11:59 pm.  In case of any query, contact team ADR at soladr@ddn.upes.ac.in, but kindly do not upload wrong information; the application shall be rejected outright, if any discrepancy is found.
