2nd Nithin Patil Memorial – SymArbitrate Advocacy 2026

Organised by Symbiosis Law School, Pune

FORMAT:

The competition will be structured as:

The event features three ADR-based competitions conducted offline on 14–15 March 2026 at Symbiosis Law School, Pune:

Deal Mediation Competition

Consists of Preliminary Rounds, Semi-Finals, and Final Round. Each session runs for 60 minutes (45 minutes mediation + 5 minutes caucus + 10 minutes post-negotiation session). The Top 4 teams advance to the Semi-Finals and Top 2 teams proceed to the Final. Mediators and Negotiating Pairs are evaluated independently.

Negotiation Competition

Conducted as an individual event with Preliminary, Semi-Final, and Final Rounds. Each round runs for 25 minutes (18 minutes negotiation + 7 minutes critique). Top participants advance to knockout rounds and the winner is declared Best Negotiator.

Client Counselling Competition

Includes structured counselling sessions where teams consult a client based on a released proposition. Teams are evaluated on client interviewing, legal analysis, communication skills, and professional ethics. The competition progresses through elimination rounds culminating in a final round.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Open to students enrolled in 3-year LL.B. or 5-year Integrated LL.B. programmes.

  • Maximum 2 entries per institution (where applicable).

  • Cross-institutional teams are not permitted for Mediation and Client Counselling.

  • Negotiation Competition allows individual participation.

TEAM COMPOSITION:
  • Deal Mediation: 3 members (1 Mediator, 1 Client, 1 Counsel)

  • Negotiation: Individual participation

  • Client Counselling: 2 members (Counsel 1 & Counsel 2)

All members must be from the same institution (except Negotiation, which is individual).

Important Dates 

  • Opening of Registration: 4 February 2026

  • Release of Proposition: 4 February 2026

  • Last Date for Clarifications: 8 February 2026

  • Release of Clarifications: 13 February 2026

  • Last Date of Registration: 28 February 2026

  • Competition Dates: 14–15 March 2026

Registration Fees

    • Deal Mediation: ₹3250 per team

    • Negotiation: ₹1800 per participant

    • Client Counselling: ₹2600 per team

    (All fees inclusive of GST and non-refundable.)

  • Each competition offers:

    • Winner & Runner-Up Titles

    • Certificates of Merit

    • Participation Certificates for all registered participants

    (Specific category awards such as Best Negotiator are included in respective competitions.)

Rulebook & Proposition

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Interested Students before filling out Participation form Must apply by filling ADR APPLICATION FORM latest by 27th February 2026.  In case of any query, contact team ADR at soladr@ddn.upes.ac.in, but kindly do not upload wrong information; the application shall be rejected outright, if any discrepancy is found.
