5th Annual Mediation Competition, 2026
Organised by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC), NMIMS School of Law, Navi Mumbai

FORMAT:

The competition will be structured as:

The competition will be conducted in hybrid mode, with two Preliminary Rounds held online on 6 March 2026, followed by Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final Rounds conducted offline at the NMIMS Navi Mumbai campus on 14 March 2026. Each preliminary round runs for 45 minutes, while Semi-Final and Final rounds run for 60 minutes, inclusive of caucus time. Teams consist of a mediating pair and a mediator who are scored separately. The top 8 mediating pairs and top 8 mediators from prelims advance to knockout rounds. Each mediation session includes opening statements, joint sessions, and caucuses, closely simulating real mediation practice.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The competition is open only to Law Colleges and Universities recognised by the Bar Council of India. Participants must be bona fide students enrolled in 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programmes during the current academic year. Maximum two teams per institution are permitted, and cross-university teams are not allowed.

TEAM COMPOSITION:

Each team must consist of three members:

  • One Mediator

  • One Client

  • One Counsel

The Client–Counsel pair forms the Mediating Pair, while the Mediator competes and is scored independently. Roles must be declared at registration and cannot be swapped during the competition.

  • 2 Feb 2026 – Registration Opens

  • 6 Feb 2026 – Last Date for Provisional Registration

  • 20 Feb 2026 – Final Registration & Fee Payment Deadline

  • 21 Feb 2026 – Release of Proposition I

  • 24 Feb 2026 – Last Date to Seek Clarifications

  • 1 Mar 2026 – Release of Clarifications

  • 2 Mar 2026 – Draw of Lots

  • 6 Mar 2026 – Inauguration + Online Preliminary Rounds

  • 7 Mar 2026 – Release of Proposition II

  • 14 Mar 2026 – Offline Advanced Rounds + Valedictory


Registration Fees

    • All Teams (Online Preliminary Rounds): ₹3,500 (inclusive of GST)

    • Qualified Teams – Offline Rounds:

      • Mediating Pair: ₹3,000

      • Mediator: ₹1,500
        (Offline fee covers accommodation and food)

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Interested Students before filling out Participation form Must apply by filling ADR APPLICATION FORM latest by 17 February 2026.  In case of any query, contact team ADR at soladr@ddn.upes.ac.in, but kindly do not upload wrong information; the application shall be rejected outright, if any discrepancy is found.
