6th Justice A.S. Anand National Mediation and Negotiation Competition, 2026 | 8 March 2026 (Online) and 19–21 March 2026 (Offline)

The competition is structured as a multi-stage mediation and negotiation exercise designed to simulate real-life dispute resolution. It begins with Preliminary Rounds, conducted in an online mode, where teams participate in mediation sessions involving mediators and negotiating pairs representing disputing parties. Based on performance and scores, selected teams advance to the Quarter-Finals, followed by Semi-Finals, and ultimately the Final Round, all conducted offline at the University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Each round involves structured mediation sessions including opening statements, joint discussions, caucuses (private meetings), negotiation exchanges, and closing statements, enabling participants to demonstrate negotiation strategy, mediation advocacy, and collaborative problem-solving skills.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The competition is open to all bona fide students enrolled on a regular basis in an undergraduate law programme, including both five-year integrated law courses and three-year LL.B. programmes, at any institution recognised by the Bar Council of India. Participants must remain enrolled in their qualifying law programme at the time of the competition. Each team must fulfil all eligibility requirements as prescribed by the organising committee.

TEAM COMPOSITION:

Each participating team shall consist of three members, comprising one mediator and two negotiators, who act as the client and counsel pair. The mediator facilitates communication and negotiation between parties, while the negotiating pair represents one side of the dispute. The roles assigned to each participant remain fixed throughout the competition. Additionally, a maximum of two teams per university are permitted to register and participate in the competition

Registration Fees

  • The registration fee for the competition is ₹3,600 per team, which must be paid through Demand Draft or NEFT to the account specified by the organisers. The payment receipt must be submitted along with the final registration form before the stipulated deadline.
